About Ru Porcelain

1. What is Ru Porcelain?

Ru Porcelain is one of the most celebrated ceramic traditions in Chinese history, originally produced in Ruzhou during the Northern Song Dynasty. It is admired for its elegant sky-blue glaze, subtle crackle patterns, and timeless aesthetic.

2. Are your products made in Ruzhou?

Yes. Our pieces are crafted in Ruzhou, the birthplace of Ru Porcelain, by artisans who continue the region's ceramic traditions.

3. Are your pieces handmade?

Each product page specifies whether a piece is fully handmade or semi-handmade. Regardless of the production method, every piece undergoes hand-finishing and kiln firing.

4. Why is Ru Porcelain expensive?

Ru Porcelain requires skilled craftsmanship, multiple production stages, and high-temperature kiln firing. The limited yield and natural variation of each firing make every piece unique.

5. Why is each piece slightly different?

Because of the handmade process and kiln firing, variations in glaze tone, crackle pattern, shape, and texture naturally occur. These differences are part of the character and beauty of authentic Ru Porcelain.

6. Is the crackle pattern a defect?

No. The crackle pattern is a traditional feature of Ru Porcelain and is highly appreciated by collectors and tea enthusiasts.

Glaze & Appearance

1. What is the difference between Sky Blue Glaze and Antique Sky Blue Glaze?

Sky Blue Glaze features a brighter and cleaner blue tone with a fresh, refined appearance.
Antique Sky Blue Glaze has a deeper, softer tone with a more aged and understated character inspired by antique Ru ware. It often reveals richer depth and a stronger sense of historical elegance.
Both glazes are authentic Ru Porcelain glazes, but they offer different visual expressions and moods.

2. Will the glaze color look exactly like the photos?

Because each firing is unique and screen settings vary, slight differences in color, crackle pattern, and surface texture are normal.

Use & Care

1. Is Ru Porcelain safe for tea and daily use?

Yes. Our tea ware is food-safe and suitable for everyday tea preparation and enjoyment.

2. What teas pair well with Ru Porcelain?

Ru Porcelain works well with a wide range of teas, including oolong, green tea, white tea, black tea, and pu-erh. Its smooth glaze preserves the tea's original aroma and flavor.

3. How should I care for Ru Porcelain?

Wash gently with warm water and mild soap. Avoid sudden temperature changes, microwave use, and dishwasher cleaning. Dry thoroughly before storage.

4. Can Ru Porcelain be used as decorative art?

Absolutely. Many customers collect Ru Porcelain not only for tea but also as decorative objects that bring quiet elegance to living spaces.
